Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
On Wednesday 12th September, I attended an ‘Introduction to Neuro Linguistic Programming for ADI’s’ for the second time.
NLP, as its better known, is very much about the choice, order and preference of words used in any given situation, to help influence thought processes and patterns with the aim of influencing an objective outcome.
NLP is used in all manner of ways, from political strategies (think strong and stable government), to sales pitches. It is also used in the altogether more professional setting of teaching.
How can this help me learn to drive, I hear you cry. The simplistic answer is by listening carefully to what you say, by asking the right questions, observing learning patterns and mannerisms, I can rewire your brain to think more positively and to help you to focus on the most important aspects of what we are covering. In short, I can help you to retain and utilise information more effectively, which in turn will leave you feeling more positive and rewarded from each learning experience.
The subject is exceedingly deep, hence my second sitting. It was like reading a complicated book a second time; I picked up so much more and better understood the subject material. I now have a long list of further reading. In the meantime, I will be looking at each and every lesson and new ways to develop not only my newly improved skills – but also yours.
